I'm a Disney fanatic.....yes, yes, I love me some Disney. It's about an hours drive from my house, mainly highway. I can get a good clip going and do about 80 on one road and 75 on another. Now I'm not driving any faster than anyone else. There are many, many people that pass me by.
The other day as were taking the drive to Disney for an overnighter we are doing a good clip of 75 in a 65 zone. Nobody slow is in the fast lane (which is a REAL problem here in FL) so we're going along just fine, chatting away, laughing, enjoying the ride. All of a sudden this asshat in a tiny Chevy Spark jumps out in front of me, where I have to slam on my breaks because he's only doing 60 in a 65. Yeah, I know I was going 75, but I pay attention. First we made fun of his car, because you could see the poor guy in the backseat was sitting sideways. And it was just so funny looking, this tiny car with these 3 people scrunched up inside. Those things may save you on gas, but they won't do a think for your life if you're ever in an accident!
Anyway, he sits in my lane doing 60, and although there are tons of available openings next to him to pull over, he stays in my lane and makes it completely impossible for me to get into a right lane to go around him. I start getting a bit upset and am on his tail because I have 10 cars on my tail. I'm flashing at him to go over everytime there's a chance and he just sits there. Finally a huge stretch of openness comes up on the right hand side and he finally gets over! So I zoom past him, as do the 10 cars behind me! He then decides to try and keep up with me. Ummmm, that's not even gonna happen. First of all, my car is pretty fast and I'm not afraid to use it! So for the next 10 miles or so he continues to try and get in front of me again, he's finally putting his foot on the gas! Now why the heck couldn't he have done that when me and the 10 cars behind me were getting pissed at him for driving like an ass?
I made sure that he couldn't get in front of me again. But we finally came to our exit and enjoyed the rest of our short trip!

No offense.........................................
I write from my heart. I'm not an english major, nor a professor. I put lots of dots...........and lots of exclamation points!!!!!
Not all Floridians are idiots. Not all of them are stupid. I know a lot of very lovely people and friends here in FL, this writing is not about them. My blog is just about the actual stupidity that I seen almost daily with many, many drivers here.
I have lived in Hawaii, they drive crazy as hell there! And it's supposed to be "paradise"! LMAO! I've also lived in Philly, lots of craziness there too, and lots of lead foots. I did learn how to drive a stick there since there was a stop sign or light at every street, it was very easy to learn quickly. I was born and raised in Washington and learned how to drive there. I have driven in Seattle traffic and during a horrendous commute and can't see how people can stand to drive there, I think it's probably 98% close to being the same as Los Angeles and it's horrendous driving issues.
So if you are offended by my posts/blog, sorry, but if you are offended is it because you are the same type of people that I'm talking about? Did you forget what the stick on the left hand side of the steering wheel is? When was the last time you forgot your blinker, or do you do it all the time? When was the last time you were talking on your cell phone and drifting over in your lane into my lane, when was the last time you were texting and drifted almost completely off the road? Think about yourself being offended, then think about the questions I just posed to you. Does it apply??

The rim is round, just like the tire..........
As I'm driving in the right hand lane on a road that is 65 MPH, and most do between 70 and 75, I look over. There is a Jeep SUV that is trying to rejoin the ongoing traffic from the side of the road. It just starts driving, no lights, no blinkers and starts merging from the side of the road into the left lane of traffic, where the people are driving 75 MPH. As I look closer, the woman has a flat and the tire is rolling around the rim! Now obviously she knows she's driving on a flat, she was on the side of the road! She keeps going, about 25 mph into the oncoming lane, and the people are having to slam on their brakes! You can see the tire rolling around the rim and she keeps on driving! I'm screaming from my car, doing 65MPH in the right hand lane......'YOU'RE DRIVING ON THE RIM....YOU HAVE A FLAT!!"
At that point my exit was coming up and I had to slow down and take my exit, but I kept looking to see if she was getting off at my exit, but I could no longer see her. All I could think was how bad the tire must have looked and how stupid this woman must have been to think she could get back into 70 MPH traffic and get to the exit and into town on it. Just can't believe it! CRAZY!!

Fog...pea soup thick....
I used to drive a 2 lane road everyday to take my son to school. Two lanes of 55 MPH, each way, sometimes lowering to 45 MPH. It can be slow going most days, but I will admit, I do pass when it's legal and I am tired of following grampa or the idiot in his beamer trying to make a deal. Yes, I am guilty of going faster than the speed limit. Now honestly, 55 is too slow for this particular road and it really should be raised to 70 since it's a country road that is in good shape and there are very few houses or roads off of it. But that's just my opinion.
As I drive, like I said, I pass people. But the other day the fog was so thick I wasn't about to pass anyone. You couldn't see 2 car lengths in front of you, so I did the limit, following the other 15 cars in the line with me, where normally I'd have worked my way to the front of the pack so I could do my limit. :D It was even so thick I had trouble seeing as I drove out of our housing development where I have to make a turn. In my car I have automatic lights, they are always on due to a sensor, but I also have fog lights that I can turn on when the fog is thick. Where I come from the winter time this is really needed, but here in FL it's not usually that often I need them. The other day was definitely the exception.
As I'm driving I'm noticing how many are driving without lights! WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?? Isn't it the law you have to use lights on low during fog? You could barely see the cars with lights, let alone the morons without lights. I don't understand, my first thought when the news said it was foggy was to make sure my lights went on, especially after leaving the house and seeing for myself how thick it was. Don't others think about that when they leave the house? Where is common sense. What if someone had tried to pass another car on this long stretch of road, not only can you NOT see the cars coming at you, because of the fog, but also because you didn't have your lights on. The crashes could have been endless because of the inability to see and the pileups that could have occurred. Thank goodness we were being watched over so nothing happened, but still it could have, because of the common senseless factor! Crazy!

The Walmart parking lot is NOT a dragstrip.....
Walmart, one of my favorite stores! Where I grew up Walmart didn't arrive until the mid 90's when I had already moved away, but I quickly found them when I learned of this cheaper alternative to Sears, Penney's, Kmart! Yes, that's all we had, oh, and the large local department stores. Walmart carries everything from soap to DVD's to mashed potatoes! I love it!
What I don't love is the parking lots. People drive through there like they are in such a rush, speeding up and down the lanes looking for the spot closest to the door. There are 2 or 3 doors into WallyWorld, I'm sure you'll be close to one door no matter where you park in the lot. Walmart has also tried to lesson the speed by adding stop signs up and down the main corridors of the lot, but now people are just confused as to where they should stop and a lot of them just speed through the signs now. What's perfect...stop signs with speed bumps! Nah, still won't help.
While were on the "parking lot" subject......
If you are driving a duely with 4 doors and an 8 foot bed that's 10 feet off the ground, don't try and fit into a regular parking spot close to the door. YOUR TRUCK IS TOO FUCKING BIG!! For God's sake, park on the outside lanes of the parking lot so that your jack and 3 feet of the bed of your truck isn't sticking into the lane where the cars have to drive and have to swerve to avoid hitting the jack of your truck.
Also, if you are in such a hurry that your car is almost sideways into your parking spot, STRAIGHTEN IT UP before you leave the spot. STOP, THINK ABOUT IT, and fix your damn parking job. Not only are you taking up 2 spots, but your screwing up the whole rest of that line of cars because of YOU nobody else can park straight and it's messing up the system.
Sometimes I wished I had little notes to leave on peoples cars when they park like an asshat. Come on, YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY PERSON IN THIS WORLD, there are others who live here and are trying to park so others csn use the lot too. Crazy!

Highway merging wasn't a question on the drivers test.....
I try to always be a polite driver. I always use my blinkers, I wave people into traffic in a jam, I move into the left if possible when I see a highway "on" ramp so that the people coming onto the highway have a lane to merge into.
In this state that isn't the norm. People here don't know how to be polite, and they RARELYwill move the fuck out of the way so that others can join the flow of traffic effortlessly onto a major highway.
It is the state law that if you see someone on the side of the road that you move to the next lane so that you don't hit someone accidentally when they are getting out of their stalled/broken down car. It's a LAW! Why don't people heed this law, I have no idea, but I guess those are the same people that you see not following the speed limit in a work zone. Those men are risking their lives working to better our roads and some jerk runs them over because he can't slow down just a bit. I know those guys make a good living, but they deserve every cent they earn, working in the horrendous heat in the summers here in FL, but also working next to crazy drivers everyday!

I can park here....right?
When I wrote this I was driving my son who is afraid to learn how to drive (can you blame him, even if he is 22!) to a small town college so that he can learn a trade that the navy failed to teach him. They taught him nothing in the 2 years he was in, except how to get out early! But I digress..........
As we drove the 29 miles from door to door I had to figure out ways to either kill time in the other small town I don't live in or waste the gas to drive all the way back home, then back to the school again, and home once more. So I discovered coffee shops, donut shops, etc Places to kill the time while waiting him to finish school every day.
One day after I picked him up we drove to the nearest intersection to make a left hand turn to take the drive home. This particular intersection is huge, with the cars in the lane next to us also able to make a left hand turn. Yes, 2 lanes out of the 8 at this intersection able to make a left hand turn. In front of us is a large truck so I'm unable to see the light when it changes, next to us is a small 2 door truck. We arrived at the light just as it finished letting the former cars go through it. So were having a conversation about his day. We look over and the women gets out of the small truck next to us, shuts the door and walks behind my car and across 3 more lanes of traffic going in the other direction. She smiles and crosses to the 7-11. Her truck is just left sitting there, no flashers on, and she's the first one in her lane to supposedly go through the turn light when it changes. My son and I look at each other and her and are just dumbfounded.
The headrests in her truck are high enough that if you are behind her, you can't tell if there is nobody in the drivers seat. The flashers are on, but people behind her don't know she's left her car sitting there alone, IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN LANE IN A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. We keep watching as the cars pile up behind her truck and then the light changes. We are able to go, but we have no way to tell the people behind us they CAN'T go. I can see in my right side mirror the cars getting closer to hers and then NOT going anywhere as we turn the corner.
So here's the thing....she appeared to have a cell phone in her hand. She LEFT the car, just left it. Why not sit in the car, use the cell, turn on the flashers, or at least ask the people in the next car to call 911 if your car is broken, be there to wave people around the broken down car, but don't friggin abandon it!! Crazy!

Crazy drivers........
I'm not new to blogging, I've started probably 20 or so since this medium was invented. But today it hit me...I truly live in the land of morons and idiots. Now I will say, there are many more wonderfully sweet, nice and NOT crazy people here is Florida, but I've decided that it's so crazy what I see almost daily, I'm going to start sharing it, because it's right there, out in front of our noses.
I'm not from here, but have been living here since 2007. I am so happy to be here because it makes me so close to DisneyWorld, my obsession forever! I can go whenever I want and am perfectly happy being in the land of Mickey Mouse, I'd go everyday if I lived closer. I go by myself most of the time, but go with friends when they are available.
So let's get down to the crazyness that is the everyday life of the drivers that surround me. First of all, in this state blinkers are "optional" yes, OPTIONAL, not legally, but.......you know, if they use them, it's very unusual, so I figured they must be optional. It's stinks to be behind this guy that doesn't know what that stick on the left hand side of his steering column is for, then he slams on his brakes and whips it into the Walgreens parking lot like he was aiming for Ma and Pa Kettle walking across the parking lot. Yes, slamming on the brakes is another thing altogether, we're cruising at 50 mph down the road and then BOOM you slam on your brakes, swerve to the left or right to avoid the car in front of you and then you are at a complete stop....for no reason, except that sometimes it takes longer than 2 minutes to make that right/left hand turn. I am constantly screaming.........TURN ALREADY!!
There are many crazy things I see everyday on the road and I'll be updating this as I see them, hopefully someone will read this, but if not, at least I can get my own frustrations out as I drive the roads in Central Florida.
